To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a literary classic. In high school, I was never one for reading the assigned readings but I was glad I read this one. One of my favorite quotes from the novel is, "I think there is just one kind of folks. Folks." Scout says this while talking to Jem, her brother, about the problems in Maycomb of why people don't get along. This quote stuck out to me because of the innocence surrounding it. Scout is a young girl, to her no one is really "different" and doesn't understand why people need to be treated differently. This novel tells the story of race and a coming of age for Miss Scout Finch. This story, though old in time, can still teach us a lot about love and equality today.
